Organisations worldwide are using advanced analytics to overhaul business strategies – in fact 70% of leading companies, according to the EY-Forbes Insights report, High Stakes, High Rewards. And, this is creating demand for data scientists.

As a student in this field, can you confidently demonstrate your modelling, analytics and technical expertise to solve some of the trickiest challenges faced by organisations?

As part of our commitment to building a better working world, the EY Data Science Challenge is the organisation’s first global competition aimed at testing the prowess and skills of the next generation of data scientist superstars.

The challenge will require you to use your data science and analytics techniques to understand the key drivers and influencers of quality of life measures levels globally, and to predict relationships between macro trends, education and quality of life.

Using data from various sources, and your strong problem solving abilities, we’re hoping to find the brightest minds in data and analytics to provide some extraordinary results.

The challenge:

1. Understand the key drivers and influencers of employment levels globally

2. Demonstrate how quality of life is affected by macro trends such as:

  • Demographic information
  • Education/Qualification level
  • Gross Domestic Product
  • Consumer Price Index

3. Predict the quality of life measures globally

The data:

The training dataset provided contains macro-economic information over the last 30 years across the globe. Your task is to predict the quality of life measure using data science and advanced analytic tools and techniques on observations in the provided data.

You are strongly encouraged to source and incorporate publicly available data from external sources to help support your predictions.
